Bilbao is a nice spanish city with the world famous Guggenheim Museum. There is also Casco Viejo in the middle of the city where all people relax with pintxos an a good wino blanco or two. The surroundings with the northern riviera San Sebastian with a short bus drive also gives you a nice beach life during summer. Just 20 km to the west of Bilbao there is twe nice little sea town Castro - Urdiales that also contain a nice beach and buildings that want to tell you a story
The train access i Spain is very good and when in the country it's easy and with a good time table to travel aroound Spain.
Basque is famous for their pintxos. In every bar and corner you can find these deliscious small sandwiches.
However if you want something else it could be quite hard beacause the basque people really like their pintxos
