Malta
I have been curious of this little Mediterranean island for a while. My knowledge of the island was very inadequate. The island is small enough to go around by bicycle, however be aware of the heat during summer.
Two things really surprised me about Malta. I thought it would be very relaxed and maybe some resorts for those who don´t like the steamy Ibiza among others, but no…a part of Malta, St Julian is just like that. Fortunately, I could stay away from that but for those who like a trip with a good party, Malta is a good choice as well.

The other surprise is more my melody, the diving! Actually, very nice diving with easy access from the shores and very interesting wrecks to dive around inside. Nitrox certification is highly recommended.
In the north east Malta has its two famous islands, Comino and Gozo. Gozo is a more relaxed part of Malta and have nice diving and good atmosphere.
Comino has its beautiful Blue Lagoon. There is a whole lot of tourists there, especially during the weekend. I went early during a weekday over to Comino. Definitely the right choice and also with one of the first ferries to get the right atmosphere and inhale the beauty of the lagoon.Malta is definitely worth the visit both for a few days or for a whole week. You can get valuable tickets with Ryan Air if you are going for a week. For a few days connect via Prague with Air Malta.

The blue Lagoon! This place is lovely with the crystal clear water. Perfect for a daytrip. But be aware, during weekends it is very crowded so come early to feel the beautiness.
With a rented bike I cycled through half of the main island through wine yards and olive trees. The countryside is very nice with their rocky grounds and stone walls along the roads. The country is built with many smaller cities and the capital Valetta has only a population of 6000(!).
I just love shore diving and that is exactly how they do it here. Go with Bezz divers, the best on the Islands. There are many intresting wrecks around.
I dived at th P29 patrol boat and it´s easy to penetrate the wreck. Inside you go in narrow passing and seeing coralls starting to grow in the walls. Enjoyable diving!
Just enjoy Maltas many restaurants and enjoy the different food. There are som real good burger places as well. My favorite is Badass burgers. Give it a go!
